Breaking News: Two Men Arrested in Upstate New York on Thursday!
Two men were arrested on Thursday in Upstate New York after being linked to a violent crime organization and charged in connection with a homicide in Stamford, Connecticut.
The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias and 22-year-old Moises Alejandro Candollo-Urbaneja, were apprehended near the Rensselaer Train Station after attempting to flee the area using a stolen credit card.
Police discovered the suspects when they were alerted that the stolen credit card had been used at the Amtrak Station. According to the authorities, the card was stolen from the homicide victim on October 14th.
The Rensselaer Police were notified of the suspicious activity and quickly located and arrested the two men before they could board a train.
The suspects were found walking with two young children, aged 1 and 3, who were later turned over to Child Protective Services.
Investigators believe that both men are in the United States illegally and are tied to a notorious transnational criminal organization known as Tren de Aragua.
This criminal group, originally based in Venezuela, is involved in a wide range of illegal activities, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, extortion, and violent crimes such as murder and kidnapping.
The group has been expanding its influence beyond its home country, making it a significant threat in regions where its members operate.
The arrest of these two men comes after a lengthy investigation into their involvement in the Stamford homicide.
Police in Stamford had been searching for leads since the killing, and the breakthrough came when the suspects tried to use the stolen credit card, triggering the police response in Upstate New York.
Both men were charged with being fugitives from justice and were arraigned in Rensselaer City Court. They are currently being held in the Rensselaer County Jail, awaiting transportation back to Stamford to face charges related to the homicide.
