California Woman Found Dead After Partner’s THREATS TO CHILD AND ASSAULT ON OFFICER

Authorities in California are currently investigating the death of a woman whose companion is alleged to have made threats to harm her three-year-old child and assaulted an officer before her body was discovered.

A statement issued by Watsonville, Calif., police on Sunday, Aug. 4, stated that Lizbeth Arceo Sedano, 25, was unable to be contacted by her family or authorities when her companion Joshua Gonzalez was apprehended for allegedly threatening to harm her child and assaulting an officer.

In their statement, the police conveyed “serious concerns” regarding Sedano’s well-being and requested assistance in locating her. They also noted that her family has stated that it was unusual for her to not respond to phone calls or text messages.

Watsonville police allege that Gonzalez, who was purportedly outside the police department on Saturday evening, called the dispatch center to report that he was “armed with a knife and was going to harm the three-year-old child.”

Police informed SF Gate that he allegedly informed the dispatcher that the minor is his stepdaughter.

According to the statement, Gonzalez allegedly “charged” at the officer after he was ordered to lower the knife by a first responder who exited a patrol car. This prompted the officer to fire at him. He was transported to a trauma center. The incident did not result in any harm to the infant.

The sheriff’s department announced later that day that deputies who were dispatched to a Santa Cruz location on Monday discovered a deceased corpse, which they promptly identified as Sedano’s.

Her death is being investigated by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office as “suspicious.” The investigation will persist as authorities attempt to ascertain the cause and mode of her death. No charges were specified against Gonzalez, who was in stable condition after the gunshot, in the statements issued by either department.

Sedano’s family described her as “outgoing, loving, and most importantly, a dedicated mother to her 3-year-old daughter” in a GoFundMe account established to cover her funeral expenses and financial obligations for her daughter.

“Our family will never be the same again, and Lizbeth’s death was tragic,” the fundraiser declared.
