Caught on Camera: Man Steals $60 from Walmart Self-Checkout and Gets Arrested!
State Police are accusing a man of doing just that. According to the authorities, the individual shown in the photo was spotted leaving the Walmart Super Center on Route 11 in LeRay at around 12:40 p.m. on August 11.
The man allegedly took $60 in cash that a previous customer had left behind at a self-checkout register and forgot to collect. After the incident, State Police requested the community’s help in identifying the man.
They have now arrested 58-year-old Michael Zimmerman from LaFargeville in connection with the theft. Zimmerman faces a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny.
7 News contacted the state police for more details about the case. According to the police, the original customer returned to retrieve the forgotten money but was unable to find it. The customer then contacted Walmart for assistance.

Police say surveillance footage revealed that the suspect quickly grabbed the cash as soon as the customer walked away and appeared to hide it. The customer subsequently reported the incident to the police. Following the release of the suspect’s photo, Zimmerman turned himself into the authorities.
