Coach at OC high school arrested after reaching out to former students to conduct sexual offenses, according to police

The Santa Ana Police Department said on Monday that a high school coach had been placed under custody on allegations that he had made contact with former student-athletes with the intention of committing a sexual offense.

Godinez High School’s head football coach, substitute teacher, and track and field coach, Aaron Raya, 28, of Santa Ana, was taken into custody by the police.

Detectives say that on July 14, the police department got a report from a mother who discovered offensive texts sent between Raya and her minor daughter.

According to the investigation, Raya started corresponding with the ex-student on social media about track events. After the student graduated, Raya allegedly made advances toward her and tried to set up a meeting.

It was discovered through additional research that two more children and former pupils had also been victims. According to police, Raya allegedly made advances towards the young victims in a sexual manner.

Raya was arrested at his residence and then charged with a sexual offense at the Orange County Jail. $100,000 was set as his bail.
