Colonie Police Recover Seven Guns, Arrest Four in NY Shooter Supply Burglary Investigation!
Colonie, NY — Four individuals have been arrested following a daring burglary at NY Shooter Supply, a gun store in Colonie. Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrests and announced they had recovered seven of the 14 firearms stolen during the incident.
Colonie Police Chief James Gerace described the investigation as a collaborative effort involving the Albany Police, Troy Police, and federal agencies. Together, they swiftly identified and apprehended the suspects in less than 24 hours after the burglary. The stolen guns were recovered from a storage facility linked to one of the suspects.
The break-in occurred in the early hours of November 14. Before targeting NY Shooter Supply, the thieves attempted but failed to break into another nearby gun shop, American Shooter Supply, also known as B&J Guns, located just a mile away. Surveillance footage captured a suspect rummaging through the back office of NY Shooter Supply and fleeing with stolen firearms.
Footage from a nearby gas station showed the suspect crossing the parking lot toward a getaway car, dropping a gun along the way. Police later determined that the getaway vehicle had been parked at a Motel 6 across the street from the gun shop.
Investigators discovered that the suspect did not use the shop’s front door to escape. Instead, he gained access to the building by breaking through a wall in a shared hallway after entering through a back door into a communal bathroom.
Police identified the getaway vehicle as belonging to Nicole January, 43, of Latham. Surveillance on the car led them to a storage unit on Wade Road, where seven of the stolen firearms were recovered. January now faces misdemeanor charges, including possession of stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child.
Paul Gervasio, 37, of New Lebanon, who was identified as the getaway driver, was the first to be arrested. He faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a weapon, burglary, and grand theft.
William Moses, 48, of Albany, was also arrested. He is believed to be the individual who broke into the shop and stole the firearms. Moses faces charges similar to Gervasio, including criminal possession of a weapon and burglary.
Another suspect, Dante Chisholm, 50, of Troy, was charged with misdemeanor possession of stolen property. He was found in an apartment containing stolen non-weapon items, including pistol stands and shoulder straps. The apartment was also reported to be in deplorable condition, with methamphetamine present in an area accessible to two minors.
Chief Gerace praised the teamwork of the agencies involved in the investigation, stating that their efforts led to the swift identification and capture of the suspects. However, the case is far from over, as police continue searching for the remaining stolen firearms.
