Colorado Police Chase and Standoff Lead to Arrest of Kidnapping Suspect!
A man wanted in connection to a reported kidnapping was arrested after a police chase and standoff in Delta County, Colorado, on November 30. The Delta Police Department reported receiving information about the suspect, 33-year-old Daryle Herger, driving south on Highway 50 toward Delta County around 8:12 a.m.
Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle near Highway 50 and G50 Road, where Herger was seen driving at high speed. Law enforcement pursued Herger to Trap Club Road, where he abandoned his car and fled on foot.
According to the source, At approximately 10:45 a.m., residents in the Delta area were issued a shelter-in-place order to ensure public safety during the search. The Colorado State Patrol provided aerial support while officers on the ground used a K9 unit to track Herger.
After a brief standoff, Herger was located and taken into custody around 10:45 a.m. He was booked into Delta County Jail and now faces multiple charges from both the Delta Police Department and the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.
The Delta Police Department has charged Herger with 2nd Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault by Strangulation, 2nd Degree Kidnapping, 1st Degree Burglary, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Obstruction of Telephone Service, and Domestic Violence.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Office added charges of Vehicular Eluding, Driving After Revocation, Reckless Driving, and Speeding 25 to 39 mph over the limit.
