Crawford Chaos: Reckless Endangerment Arrest Rocks the Community!
A chaotic incident in Crawford led to the arrest of a man for reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Crawford Police were called to a home at 554 Drexel Drive around 7 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they detained three men who were seen clearing out items from the house. The men told police that a suspect had pulled up to a stop sign, gotten out of his vehicle with a rifle, and offered to sell it to them. According to their story, the suspect then fired several shots down the road before fleeing on foot. A blue Altima was also seen speeding away from the scene.
However, as the investigation continued, the police found a shotgun and spent shell casings in a vehicle at the scene. This evidence did not match the story the men had told. Upon further questioning, the officers discovered inconsistencies in their statements.
After re-evaluating the situation, the police determined that the suspect’s account of events was false. Nicholas Imperati, a resident of Highland Mills, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was later released with an appearance ticket.
New York State Police and the Town of Shawangunk Police also assisted in the investigation. The incident remains under investigation as authorities continue to piece together the details of what led to the chaotic situation.
