Domestic Violence Tragedy: Florida Man Arrested for Shooting Fiancée After Engagement Was Called Off!
A Central Florida man, Timothy Hyder, has been denied bond after being accused of killing his fiancée, Natalie Du’Mee. Authorities say the incident occurred after Du’Mee allegedly broke off their engagement.
The tragedy unfolded on Sunday when Du’Mee returned her engagement ring and informed Hyder that she would no longer marry him, according to the arrest report.
The couple had been at a football watch party earlier that evening, where they had been drinking. Once they returned home, an argument broke out between the two about their relationship. Hyder, 57, reportedly went to his closet, grabbed a revolver, and shot Du’Mee in the head.
At the time of the shooting, Du’Mee’s daughter was inside the house, watching a movie. Investigators say that Hyder instructed her to call 911. Officers arrived at the home on Western Sun Drive shortly before 1 a.m. and found Du’Mee’s lifeless body on the back patio. Hyder, when confronted by police, allegedly admitted to the crime, telling them that he “snapped.”
Hyder was charged with first-degree murder and appeared in court on Monday afternoon. He remains in custody at the Osceola County Jail without bond.
The community, which is known for being peaceful and quiet, was left shaken by the tragedy. Raymond Brennan, a neighbor, expressed his shock, saying it was the first time he had witnessed such an event in the area.
“This is the first time since I’ve been here that anything even close to this has happened. You don’t even hear about robberies in this neighborhood, so this is shocking for most people here,” he said.
Police also found a handgun “in plain sight” on the kitchen counter, as stated in a news release. St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke offered his condolences to the family of the victim, saying, “Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.”
