Georgia MAN SENTENCED to Life for WIFE’S MURDER After Attempting to COVER UP WITH SUICIDE CLAIM

A Georgia man has been convicted and punished for the rage-induced murder of his wife, which he attempted to blame on suicide.

The killer’s excuse, however, was swiftly undermined by the sheer number of gunfire the woman received before her death, as well as the testimony of a witness inside the home who heard the bombardment.

Glenroy Roberts, 53, killed Claudia Roberts, 45, on August 2, 2022, because he was dissatisfied with how she celebrated her birthday.

Gwinnett County jury condemned the man on Thursday, and a judge sentenced him to life in prison without the chance of parole for the woman’s murder, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney.

“This couple has sons who have to grow up without either of their parents at home,” Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson stated in a press statement. “Domestic violence is tragic. We send our condolences to every loved one and member of this family.”

According to authorities, the couple’s 10-year-old son reported hearing at least four rounds fired inside their apartment in Lawrenceville, a medium-sized suburb located about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta.

In the 911 call, Glenroy Roberts stated that his wife got his gun from his closet and that during the ensuing fight, the trigger was pressed, killing Claudia Roberts.

However, the spouse did not keep his narrative straight.

Glenroy Roberts later informed police that he was not in the room at the time of the shooting. Rather, the convicted killer claimed that he heard shooting and hurried to check what was going on, only to find his wife dead in the closet from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

During the trial, evidence revealed that the husband was upset with his wife because she traveled to New Jersey to celebrate her 45th birthday with her mother. Then he made sure the celebration was short-lived.

“I guess he wasn’t pleased with her for going,” the victim’s mother, Delores Squire, told Atlanta’s ABC affiliate WSB-TV. “She should not have fallen like that. “She did not deserve that.”

Prosecutors also presented evidence, including the crucial medical examiner’s report that spurred the arrest, indicating that she sustained two gunshot wounds and that her injuries were not self-inflicted. One of the wounds was on her skull.

Samantha Phillips, the victim’s oldest daughter, told the television station, “I knew my mother went down fighting.” “She wanted to live.” She wanted to get everyone moving, you know. A jury of the defendant’s peers deliberated for almost two hours before returning guilty verdicts. The punishment was immediately handed down by the judge who was overseeing the case.

Roberts was also sentenced to an additional, albeit symbolic, five-year prison term for other offenses committed that fading July day. In total, the condemned was found guilty of one count of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and three counts of possessing a handgun while committing a felony.

The danger symptoms were present. According to the victim’s mother, Claudia Roberts had long suffered domestic violence from her husband of 21 years, but she gave him more chances to keep the family together.

“She wanted to see them grow up with a father,” Squires told Lawnadcrime. “If a person should ever hit you, don’t let it happen a second time, because it’s going to continue.”
