Gillis Organization Generous Backpack Giveaway at Local McDonald’s Supports Over 200 Students!
Even though it doesn’t feel like it, back-to-school season is just around the corner. To help families get ready, the Gillis Organization has donated over 200 fully stocked backpacks at McDonald’s on Altamont Avenue in Rotterdam.
Each backpack is filled with essential school supplies, including a pencil sharpener, glue stick, ruler, notebook, pencil case, erasers, pencils, pens, and highlighters.
This generous donation comes at a time when the cost of school supplies is rising, making it difficult for many parents to afford everything their children need for the upcoming school year.
Julio Morgan Gillis, who owns and operates McDonald’s and leads the Gillis Organization, emphasized their commitment to the community. He said, “We’re not just serving a cheeseburger; we’re also giving out a backpack. We know that this time of year can be tough for some families, and providing these backpacks means one less thing they have to worry about.”
Backpacks are essential for education, and events like these strengthen the connection between local businesses and residents. By supporting families in need, the Gillis Organization is helping make the back-to-school season a little easier for everyone.
