Heartbreaking: College Student Allegedly Kills Newborn in Dorm Room, Leaves Body in Trash Can!
A 19-year-old student at the University of Tampa has been charged in connection with a tragic incident in which she allegedly gave birth in her dorm room, killed the newborn, and left the body in a trash can.
Brianna Moore, the student in question, now faces serious charges, including aggravated manslaughter of a child, child neglect, failure to report a death, and unlawful storage of human remains, according to Florida authorities.
Roommates Heard Baby Cries and Found Blood
The tragic events began on April 27, when Moore’s roommates heard the sound of a baby crying coming from their dorm.
Later, they noticed blood in the room and became concerned. When they asked Moore about it, she told them she was not pregnant and that the blood was from her menstrual cycle.
Despite Moore’s explanation, her roommates couldn’t shake their concerns.
The next day, they found a bloodied towel in Moore’s trash can, which led them to contact campus police once again.
Upon further investigation, police discovered the body of a baby girl, wrapped in a towel and placed in the trash can.
Autopsy Unveils the Baby’s Cause of Death
An autopsy revealed the heartbreaking details: the newborn had multiple fractured ribs and internal bleeding. These injuries likely caused the infant’s death.
Prosecutors explained that Moore admitted to giving birth in the bathroom of the dorm. She allegedly pressed the baby tightly against her body until the infant stopped crying.
Moore said that after the baby became silent, she checked for a heartbeat and assumed the child had died.
She then placed the baby on a towel, washed her with water, and fell asleep.
When she woke up about an hour later, she realized the baby was not breathing. Moore wrapped the child in a towel and put her in the trash can before going back to sleep.

Legal Action and Extradition
On Friday, Moore was arrested in Mississippi and is currently awaiting extradition to Hillsborough County, Florida, where she will face trial for her actions.
State Attorney Suzy Lopez expressed deep sadness over the case. “It’s heartbreaking to think that this baby girl might still be alive if only this young woman had reached out for help,” Lopez said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, her decisions led directly to the tragic death of her newborn.”
This incident has sparked important conversations about the emotional and mental well-being of young mothers who may find themselves in difficult situations, especially those dealing with unplanned pregnancies while trying to navigate college life.
As the case continues to develop, authorities are working to ensure justice is served for the infant.
