Heartbreaking Incident: Albany Resident Fatally Struck While Assisting with Disabled Food Truck in Nanuet!
Nanuet, NY – A 44-year-old man from Albany, Khurram Shahzad, tragically lost his life on Thursday afternoon in an accident involving a food truck on Prospect Street, as confirmed by the Clarkstown Police Department.
The incident happened around 3:05 PM. Shahzad was driving a 1994 Grumman food truck when it broke down due to mechanical problems.
He parked the truck and asked a friend, who was following him in another car, to help move it to a nearby side street.
The friend got into the truck, put it in neutral, and tried to reverse it. Unfortunately, the truck’s brakes failed during the process.
The vehicle rolled backward and hit Shahzad, who was behind the truck, assisting with the maneuver.
Emergency services, including the Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics, rushed to the scene. Shahzad was quickly taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.
