High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest: Man Caught Fleeing Traffic Stop on Stolen Ducati

A man was arrested in Sunny Isles Beach on Sunday after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop on a stolen Ducati motorcycle, according to the police. The incident unfolded around 7:30 a.m.

when several officers were monitoring traffic on State Road 826, which runs eastbound. Officers noticed a 2012 red Ducati motorcycle without a license plate speeding at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, as per the arrest reports.

When officers signaled for the motorcyclist, identified as 26-year-old Jose E. Osorio-Rodriguez, to pull over, he initially appeared to comply by slowing down.

However, just moments later, he reportedly revved the engine and sped off, evading the stop. This triggered a police chase that quickly escalated.

As officers attempted to stop Osorio-Rodriguez, things took a dangerous turn. During the pursuit, Osorio-Rodriguez allegedly struck one of the officers, knocking him down.

The impact caused the officer to spin, fall to the ground, and suffer injuries to his knee, wrist, and elbow.

Despite this, the chase continued for a short distance until Osorio-Rodriguez lost control of the motorcycle. He crashed into a pedestrian traffic pole, bringing the chase to an end.

Osorio-Rodriguez was taken into custody following the crash. The stolen Ducati, the attempted escape, and the injuries sustained by the officer are all part of the ongoing investigation, police said.

The exact details of how Osorio-Rodriguez came into possession of the stolen motorcycle are yet to be determined.

This incident highlights the risks involved in high-speed chases, not only for those directly involved but for bystanders as well. The officer who was injured is expected to recover.
