Illegal Alien Deported 16 Times Gets Only One Year in Prison for Killing Colorado Man!

An illegal alien from Mexico, who has been deported from the United States 16 times, has been sentenced to just one year in prison for causing a fatal crash that killed 64-year-old Scott Miller in Conifer, Colorado.

In June, 47-year-old Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza was arrested for vehicular homicide related to the crash that killed Miller. However, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office only charged him with misdemeanor traffic violations. Before felony charges could be filed, Cruz-Mendoza pled guilty to these lesser charges, which limited his prison sentence to just one year.

Deann Miller, the victim’s wife, expressed frustration, saying, “I’m mad because the most this man could get is a year for murdering my husband because the DA refused to charge him with more charges.”

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Cruz-Mendoza was driving a semi-truck for the Monique Trucking company based in Indio, California. While driving on Highway 285 near Conifer, his truck veered off the road.

The load he was carrying, including pipe and angle iron, spilled onto five vehicles below. One of these vehicles belonged to Scott Miller, who was killed instantly. Another driver in a different vehicle sustained serious injuries from the accident.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Cruz-Mendoza is an illegal alien who has been deported from the U.S. to Mexico a total of 16 times over the past 20 years.

His first deportation occurred in May 2002 following local charges in Oregon. Despite these deportations, Cruz-Mendoza repeatedly returned to the U.S., likely crossing the southern border. ICE has placed a detainer on Cruz-Mendoza, which means they will take custody of him when he finishes his prison sentence in Jefferson County.
