Justice Delayed: DA’s Office Tracks Serial Rape Suspect Who Disappeared After Posting Bail
Santa Clara County authorities are intensifying their efforts to track down Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, a 34-year-old barber from Mountain View who is accused of multiple sexual assaults.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Sarceno Orla is wanted for the alleged sexual assault of two men, including one case involving kidnapping. Investigators believe there may be many more victims and are urging those individuals to come forward.
Authorities suspect Sarceno Orla of committing sexual assaults against at least 20 men since 2018. Many of these victims appeared to be unconscious or heavily intoxicated during the attacks, and some of the assaults were reportedly recorded on video.
The Mountain View Police Department began its investigation in July when a man reported waking up injured and disoriented after drinking with Sarceno Orla. Forensic tests confirmed the man had been sexually assaulted.
Another victim told investigators that Sarceno Orla was his barber. He reported blacking out after having beers with him. This led to further inquiries, uncovering more evidence and allegations.
Sarceno Orla was arrested in late August on charges of sexual assault, but he was released after posting $250,000 bail. After a subsequent court appearance, he disappeared and has been on the run since.
The District Attorney’s Office is working with law enforcement to locate Sarceno Orla and is asking for the public’s help in finding him. Anyone who may have information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Mountain View Police Department.
