A Buffalo man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in August, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

The jury convicted 30-year-old Savon R. Stewart on one count of second-degree murder.

The incident occurred when Buffalo Police received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at an apartment complex on Main Street.

Officers arrived to find 37-year-old Jena MacDiarmid Beal dead inside the apartment. The District Attorney’s Office stated that Stewart, Beal’s boyfriend, had beaten and stabbed her, leading to her tragic death.

Stewart is now facing a potential sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Monday, December 2, and until then, he will remain in custody without the option for bail.
