Latham Crime: 19-Year-Old Man and Accomplices Assault Father and Son with Baseball Bats for Air Jordan Sneakers!

A 19-year-old man and four others are accused of violently attacking a father and son with baseball bats to steal their newly purchased Nike Air Jordan sneakers at a sports store in the Capital Region, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 579 Troy Schenectady Road in Latham, on Saturday, August 24, just before noon. Officers responded to reports of a large fight and found the suspect, identified as Albany County resident Kyle H. Fowlkes of Colonie, along with four others, assaulting the two victims.

The attack was reportedly motivated by the limited-release Nike Air Jordan sneakers that the victims had just bought.

According to Dailyvoice, the father and son were targeted for their shoes, leading to a violent confrontation.

In an attempt to defend themselves, the victims grabbed baseball bats from the store shelves, but the group still overpowered them.

Fowlkes has been charged with robbery, two counts of assault, and possession of a weapon. He is currently being held on a $10,000 cash bail, as ordered by a judge.

The father and son sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated on the scene. The incident was witnessed by several people and was captured on both cellphone video and the store’s surveillance cameras.

While Fowlkes is in custody, the other suspects involved in the attack are still at large. Authorities are actively searching for them and are urging anyone with information about the attack or the whereabouts of the other suspects to contact Colonie police at 518-783-2754.
