Machete attack outside Forum following Janet Jackson concert could result in a man losing his arm
In spite of the fact that it was a night he will never forget, he will never forget it.
According to James O’Neill, a resident of Hawthorne, “This is the first time that I had that like ‘I think I’m going to die’ moment.”
The 36-year-old was at the Kia Forum in Inglewood last Saturday with a companion, enjoying the Janet Jackson event. Following an incredible three-hour performance, O’Neill claims he became aware of being followed when trying to hail an Uber home while strolling alone on Prairie Avenue.
He claims that eight or so individuals attacked him, and one of them gave him a machete slash. They left him bleeding and with a gash in his arm, taking both his phone and wallet.
“I kind of had tunnel vision and began thinking about my loved ones. Yes, it was really awful to think that my life was about to end “stated O’Neill.
Fortunately for O’Neill, a few onlookers intervened to halt the attack. After his wound was wrapped, O’Neill managed to arrange for a ride to the hospital. He indicated he would require multiple procedures and months away from work to heal. His injuries may cause him to lose his arm.
He faces an uphill struggle without health insurance, so his friend set up a GoFundMe page to assist him during his recuperation.
For some reason, she went ahead and completed this favor for me, even though I don’t particularly enjoy asking for money. She is a love. I am going to have to pay a significant amount of money for my medical care,” O’Niell stated.
Eyewitness News has attempted to contact the Inglewood police department as well as the Forum, but they have not yet responded.
