NYC Central Park Bicyclist Attacks Woman, Attempts Rape in Early Morning Assault!
A 38-year-old woman was violently assaulted in Central Park early Saturday morning by a man who pushed her over a fence, repeatedly punched her, and attempted to rape her. The attack occurred around 5:10 a.m. near East Drive and 85th Street. The suspect, who fled the scene on a bicycle, is currently being sought by the NYPD.
The victim was walking in the park when the bicyclist approached and suddenly attacked her. After throwing her over a fence, the man punched her multiple times in the face, leaving her with severe facial injuries.
He then attempted to sexually assault her, but the woman fought back and managed to escape. The suspect fled, heading towards Fifth Avenue on his bike.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and have released an image of the man believed to be responsible for the attack.
The suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing and riding a dark-colored bike. Police have urged anyone with information about the man to come forward.
Central Park, typically a haven for joggers, walkers, and tourists, has seen a sharp focus on safety in recent months.
However, such brutal incidents remain rare in the park. “This was a particularly heinous attack in a public space that’s generally considered safe,” said one NYPD source.
Efforts are underway to increase patrols and reassure parkgoers as the investigation continues.
The victim was treated at a nearby hospital and is expected to recover physically, but the psychological trauma from such an incident is expected to last much longer.
Local authorities have intensified their search for the suspect, urging residents to remain vigilant. Community groups are also rallying to support the victim and raise awareness about safety measures in the park.
Investigators are combing through footage from nearby security cameras, hoping to identify the suspect and prevent further incidents. With public concern rising, the NYPD has pledged to bring the attacker to justice as quickly as possible.
This attack has sparked renewed discussions about park safety and the measures required to prevent future crimes in Central Park, especially during early morning hours when fewer people are around.
