NYC Subway Security: Man with Loaded Gun Arrested at Bronx Station!
A man carrying a firearm and a loaded ammunition cartridge in his bag was apprehended Tuesday afternoon at the Kingsbridge Road subway station in the Bronx after attempting to access a restricted area, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident occurred on the D line platform, where the individual allegedly tried to enter a restricted section of the station to relieve himself, a senior law enforcement official told NBC New York.
Police responded to the scene quickly, at which point the man reportedly threw his bag and fled. Upon inspection, officers found a handgun and what appeared to be a loaded ammo cartridge inside the abandoned bag.
Authorities pursued and apprehended the suspect shortly after. The man was detained for questioning regarding his possession of the weapon and his actions at the station in the Fordham neighborhood.
As of now, officials have not disclosed his identity or potential charges.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities seek to understand the suspect’s intentions and circumstances surrounding his presence at the restricted area of the subway station.
