Orchard Park Police Make Major Drug Find After Simple Traffic Violation!

Jamestown, N.Y. – In a recent incident on November 1, 2024, a 30-year-old Orchard Park man, Mark F. Shanks, found himself in legal trouble after a traffic stop led to drug charges. Around 9:30 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department pulled over Shanks on West 7th Street, close to Washington Street. At the time, he was the only person in the car.

As the officers approached the vehicle, they noticed loose cocaine scattered inside. This prompted them to conduct a more thorough search. During the search, they discovered additional quantities of what appeared to be cocaine and a significant amount of concentrated cannabis, totaling 500 grams.

Following these findings, Shanks was detained and taken to the Jamestown City Jail for further processing. Upon a detailed search at the jail, more cocaine was uncovered, concealed on Shanks’ body.

Based on these discoveries, authorities charged Shanks with several drug-related offenses, including Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

After booking, Shanks was released with an appearance ticket, which means he is required to appear in court on a future date. In line with the law, Shanks is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case is now set to proceed through the legal system, where the evidence will be examined, and a judgment will be rendered based on the findings.
