Public Safety Alert: San Mateo Police Arrest Two for Vehicle Theft—Residents Urged to Check Their License Plates!
Two suspects have been arrested in San Mateo after police found a stolen Honda Accord. The car was identified using the city’s Flock camera system and was seen with different license plates.
The San Mateo Police Department reported that officers used spike strips to stop the vehicle, which led to the suspects’ capture. The chase ended near Kehoe Avenue and Norton Street, where police were able to safely stop the car.
The arrested individuals are 40-year-old Steven Ramey and 36-year-old Gustavo Meza.
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered not only the stolen license plates but also illegal drugs and other drug paraphernalia.
Initially, the suspects tried to flee by getting onto Highway 101 when police attempted to pull them over.
After stopping the car, officers found more stolen items inside, which have not yet been returned to their rightful owners. As San Mateo deals with an increase in license plate thefts, police are advising the community to be cautious.
They recommend that residents regularly check their vehicle’s license plates and report any issues or discrepancies as soon as possible.
