WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has confirmed the identity of the man who was tragically shot and killed at Rock Creek Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.

According to the sourceofficers responded to a shooting incident at Rock Creek Cemetery on November 9 at approximately 4:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who was unconscious and not breathing in a section of the cemetery behind the 5000 block of First Street.

Despite immediate efforts from emergency responders to perform lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. On Sunday, authorities identified the victim as 22-year-old Brandon Ward, a resident of Northwest Washington, D.C.
