Shocking: Albany Man Allegedly Steals Phone, Hacks Into Home Cameras!

An Albany man is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing a phone and accessing a home security camera during a home invasion.

The incident occurred on September 22 when Watervliet Police received a report of a home invasion.

Marcos Delgado, a 21-year-old, is accused of entering the residence and threatening the victim with harm before taking their cell phone and fleeing the scene.

According to police, Delgado knew the victim personally. After stealing the phone, Delgado allegedly used it to connect to the victim’s home security camera while the police were still investigating the scene.

This added another level of invasion, as he was allegedly able to observe what was happening in the home remotely, even while officers were present.

Thanks to the cooperation between Watervliet Police and Albany Police, Delgado was apprehended shortly after the incident.

Authorities charged him with multiple offenses, including burglary, robbery, and grand larceny. These are serious charges that could lead to significant jail time if he is convicted.

Delgado’s legal troubles don’t stop there. He had already been on probation following a conviction in April 2024 for weapons possession.

This means the current charges could have even more severe consequences, as they violate the terms of his probation. After his arrest, Delgado was arraigned in Watervliet City Court, where the judge ordered that he be held in Albany County Jail.

This case highlights the dangers of home invasions and the risks residents face, even from individuals they may know.

The ability to access a home security system through a stolen phone adds another layer of concern, showing how technology can be misused during such crimes. While Delgado awaits further court proceedings, the authorities are reminding residents to take precautions with their home security systems and ensure their devices are protected.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a situation can escalate and how vital it is for law enforcement to act swiftly in such cases.
