Shocking Arrest: Baltimore Teens Behind Multiple Carjackings Taken Into Custody!

Two teenagers with prior criminal offenses were arrested earlier this week after a series of carjackings and car thefts in Baltimore.

The police have confirmed that a 14-year-old suspect is currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Services, while a 16-year-old was released into the custody of a guardian.

Both teenagers have a history of criminal behavior. The 16-year-old had previously been arrested for stealing a car in June, while the 14-year-old was wearing a court-mandated GPS monitor at the time of the arrest.

This monitor was part of his supervision from four prior arrests this year, which included charges of armed robbery, stolen vehicles, and assault.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley expressed his frustration about the situation, noting that this is a recurring issue. “This is another example of BPD officers apprehending the same young people over and over,” Worley said.

“These incidents are incredibly frustrating and undermine the hard work and dedication of the officers investigating these crimes.”

Some Baltimore residents are calling for more action to address the issue of repeat offenders. Anthony Palmer, a local resident, voiced his concerns about the lack of consequences for young offenders.

“There seem to be very few, if any, consequences, and that’s something the city and the state need to look at,” Palmer said. “We’re trying to encourage people to move to Baltimore City for a better quality of life, for jobs and things of that nature, but if crime is not seriously tackled and addressed, that presents us as a losing city.”

The arrests follow a series of carjackings in Northwest Baltimore. On Monday morning, a person reported being carjacked and had their Lexus RX stolen around 10 a.m. on Winner Avenue. Within thirty minutes, another carjacking attempt was made just two miles away on Norton Avenue.

Soon after, police were alerted to a stolen Toyota Sedan on Cedardale Road. Investigators confirmed that the stolen Lexus was spotted at both the Norton Avenue and Cedardale Road crime scenes.

A witness, Anthony Palmer, who lives in the Ashburton neighborhood, shared what he saw during one of the incidents. He recounted that when an alarm went off, a tenant from a nearby apartment building came outside, thinking it was her car that had triggered the alarm.

However, when she approached, she realized it wasn’t her car. At that point, the suspects threatened her with a gun and stole her vehicle instead.

The carjacking spree didn’t end there. On Tuesday, a Honda Sedan was reported stolen on Kelly Avenue in yet another carjacking incident. Police later revealed that the stolen Lexus had crashed during the suspects’ attempt to flee.
