Shocking Attack: NYC Eye Doctor Punched During Exam, Needs Stitches!

A New York City eye doctor was unexpectedly attacked during an examination at his Manhattan clinic, leaving him with injuries that required stitches.

Dr. Ronald Goldstein, an optometrist based on the Upper East Side, was with a patient when a man suddenly entered the clinic and punched him in the head.

The incident occurred during a routine check-up, and the shocking attack was caught on surveillance video.

The footage shows Dr. Goldstein being struck and immediately falling to the ground. Describing the terrifying moment, he said, “He came up from behind me and hit me, but I never saw him coming.

He hit me in the side of the head and knocked me out.” After the blow, his patient quickly got up to get help and returned with a staff member.

The attack left Dr. Goldstein needing medical attention, and he was taken to the hospital for a CT scan and received seven stitches.

The experience was traumatizing not only for him but also for the patient and staff who witnessed the event. One of his coworkers described the scene, saying, “She was very shocked and, of course, very concerned for me, and completely spooked by the experience.”

After the attack, a staff member called 911, while another coworker followed the man outside and managed to take pictures of him. The attacker, who appeared to have a clear objective, left quickly.

“He was gone in less than 30 seconds,” the staff member added. “Not one word. He didn’t look at us at all. Like he was on a mission.”

In the wake of the attack, Dr. Goldstein has decided to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of his clinic and staff. “I can’t imagine what this would be about on Earth. I’m an optometrist. Most everybody walks out of here pretty happy,” he said.

After 37 years of practicing in the neighborhood, he has never locked the doors to his clinic but now feels it’s necessary to do so. He plans to install a buzzer system to enhance security, saying, “Going forward, now I don’t have much of a choice.”

The New York Police Department is actively searching for the suspect, who was clearly captured in the clinic’s surveillance footage.
