A woman from Mechanicville, New York, was arrested after being caught driving a stolen car with a baby on her lap near a Walmart in Halfmoon.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Walmart, located at 1549 US Route 9, on October 4th at 5:27 p.m. Reports were made that a woman was driving with an infant on her lap, prompting the welfare check.
Upon investigating the situation, the authorities arrested 25-year-old Julymar Garcia-Gonzalez of Mechanicville.
She was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. According to police, Garcia-Gonzalez was driving a car that had been reported stolen from the city of Watervliet.
The stolen car was valued at more than $3,000. Garcia-Gonzalez was later arraigned and released on her recognizance, meaning she was not required to post bail but is expected to return for future court proceedings.
