Shocking Incident: Woman Stabbed at Newark Airport Terminal!

A 54-year-old man named Xiong Jin was arrested on Sunday at Newark Liberty International Airport after attacking a woman with a knife. The incident happened in Terminal A, where Port Authority police witnessed Jin attacking the victim, 36-year-old Melissa Mauldin from North Carolina, with a knife on the right side of her face.

According to the pix11, Jin was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. Mauldin was taken to the hospital with injuries that, while not life-threatening, required medical attention. She spoke exclusively with Eyewitness News about the terrifying experience.

Mauldin described the attack as sudden and shocking. She was inside the terminal, watching a young boy play, when she felt a severe blow to her face. When she turned around, she saw Jin standing with a knife covered in her blood.

Despite the blade being short, it caused significant damage. Mauldin needed 14 stitches to close the cut on her face, and she also suffered fractures to her cheekbone and nose.

In her conversation with Eyewitness News, Mauldin expressed her feelings of insecurity and violation. She mentioned feeling safe until that moment and discussed how the attack had shaken her sense of security.

Mauldin was in the area for a friend’s wedding in Hoboken and was heading home when Jin attacked her. She recalled Jin coming up behind her and stabbing her while the knife was raised in the air.

Witnesses at the scene immediately rushed to help Mauldin, and Port Authority police quickly arrested Jin. According to Mauldin, Jin had no luggage and wasn’t at the airport for a flight; he appeared to be there solely with the intent to harm someone.
