Shocking News: 3 Teens Arrested After Online Threat Forces Multiple New Jersey Schools to Close!

Three suspects are now in police custody following an online threat that targeted several schools in New Jersey, causing some districts to close on Monday.

According to the Harrison Township Police Department, all three suspects are juveniles, with one identified as a 15-year-old from Mullica Hill. The other two suspects are from Woodbury and Glassboro, although their exact ages have not been released.

The online threats were directed at Woodbury City Public Schools, Deptford Township School District, Haddon Heights School District, and Glassboro Public Schools.

Due to these threats, schools in the Woodbury and Deptford districts were closed on Monday as a precautionary measure despite the belief that the threat was not credible.

Officials from Woodbury City Public Schools decided to close schools out of caution, emphasizing their commitment to student safety. As a result, no transportation services were offered to students on Monday, including those attending Rowan College of South Jersey and Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT).

“We are working closely with the Woodbury City Police and Chief Ryan to allow them the time needed to investigate and track the source of this threat thoroughly,” Woodbury City Public Schools stated in an online announcement. “Again, there is no immediate indication that the threat is valid.”

The Deptford Township School District echoed this sentiment, stating that the decision to close schools was made out of an abundance of caution. All extracurricular activities were also canceled, and transportation to GCIT and other out-of-district schools was not provided.

“We will continue to work with law enforcement officials to determine our next course of action and to ensure the safety of our schools and all of our Spartans,” the Deptford district shared in a statement.

While the Glassboro and Haddon Heights school districts remained open, they did so under an increased police presence to ensure student safety.

This incident underscores the growing concerns surrounding school safety and the lengths districts must go to protect students and staff, even when threats are not deemed credible.
