Shocking News: Albany Man Sentenced to Over Two Years for Illegally Possessing Gun!

Alexander Wilson has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for illegally possessing a pistol as a convicted felon. The 31-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to the charge in December 2023.

Wilson’s trouble with the law began in March 2023 when he was involved in a police chase on Interstate 90. During the chase, Wilson discarded a loaded pistol from his vehicle.

This incident led to serious legal consequences, as Wilson already had two prior felony convictions. The law is particularly strict with repeat offenders, and Wilson could have faced up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for his actions.

At his sentencing, the judge not only handed down a prison term but also imposed a three-year term of post-release supervision. This means that once Wilson completes his prison sentence, he will be under supervision for another three years to ensure he does not commit further offenses. In addition to the prison time and supervision, Wilson was also ordered to forfeit any firearms he possessed.

This case was the result of a collaborative investigation by the United States Marshals Service and the New York State Police. The sentencing was announced by New York State Police Superintendent Steven James, United States Attorney Carla Freedman, and United States Marshal David McNulty, highlighting the cooperation between state and federal law enforcement agencies in bringing Wilson to justice.
