Shocking Updates: Virginia Man Caught Driving Drunk with Two Young Children in La Plata!

On the night of October 4, 2024, at around 11:51 p.m., a police officer noticed a Ford Explorer moving southbound on Crain Highway, close to Shining Willow Way, in La Plata, Maryland.

The officer on duty saw the vehicle swerving and being driven in an unpredictable manner, which raised immediate concerns.

Acting on this observation, the officer pulled over the vehicle for further investigation. As he approached the driver, he noticed that the person behind the wheel had bloodshot, glassy eyes.

The officer also detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from inside the car, indicating that the driver might be under the influence.

Upon checking inside the vehicle, the officer found two small children and two adults present, both of whom did not have valid driver’s licenses.

When questioned, the driver stated that he was heading back to Fredericksburg, Virginia, after a visit to the MGM National Harbor.

However, when the officer asked him to perform the first standardized field sobriety test, the driver became uncooperative and refused to complete it, which further increased the suspicion.

The driver was identified as Albert James White, a 62-year-old resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Following his refusal to comply with the sobriety test, Mr. White was arrested on the spot.

He was charged with impaired driving, as well as multiple other traffic-related violations. Initially, Mr. White was held without bond, but he was later released on personal recognizance after a review of his case.

In this unfortunate incident, the safety of two young children, aged 2 and 4, was also a concern. Thankfully, the authorities ensured that the children were handed over to a parent and safely transported home after Mr. White’s arrest.
