Suspect Arrested: New York State Police Investigate Road Rage Incident Leading to Highway Shooting!

New York State Police are seeking the public’s assistance after a road rage incident escalated to gunfire on a New York highway. The incident, which took place on I-86 eastbound in the town of Big Flats near the Elmira Corning Regional Airport, has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man from Denver, Colorado.

According to the police, the suspect, who was driving a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck with Colorado registration, fired a handgun at another motorist driving a blue Toyota Rav4. The victim, who reported the incident, told police that a bullet had struck the passenger’s side rear door of their vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The New York State Police responded to the complaint and quickly initiated an investigation. During their search, they located the suspect and found a .380 caliber Ruger handgun, which was illegally possessed in New York state. The authorities have not yet disclosed the reasons behind the escalation of the road rage incident.

The suspect has been arrested and is now facing multiple felony charges, including first-degree reckless endangerment. This charge alone has severe consequences in New York.

According to Saland Law PC, a conviction for first-degree reckless endangerment, even with no prior criminal history, could result in a prison sentence ranging from two and one-third years to seven years.

After his arrest, the suspect was arraigned and subsequently committed to the county jail. Pending further court proceedings, his bail was set at $50,000 cash or a $200,000 bond.
