Suspended Driver Crashes Into Ridgewood Home: One Arrested, Another Hospitalized!
A car crash in Ridgewood, New Jersey, led to a dramatic scene on Friday evening when a vehicle collided with a home after a high-speed collision between two cars.
Authorities confirmed that one driver was arrested, while the other was taken to the hospital following the incident, which involved a Tesla and a Honda.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. near the intersection of North Pleasant Avenue and Bogert Avenue. The Tesla, reportedly operated by a driver with a suspended license, collided with a Honda, propelling it into the side of a nearby home.
The impact left the Honda embedded in the home’s structure, causing significant property damage, though fortunately, no occupants inside the residence were reported injured.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, including the Ridgewood Fire Department, local police, and emergency medical services.
The driver of the Honda was extracted from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities have not yet released details on the extent of the driver’s injuries, but initial reports indicate they were non-life-threatening.
Following the crash, police apprehended the Tesla driver on suspicion of operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Details surrounding the reason for the license suspension have not been disclosed, but charges are expected to be filed.
Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke stated that the investigation is ongoing, with officers gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.
The Ridgewood Fire Department reported that structural damage to the home was contained, though repairs will be necessary before it can be safely occupied again.
The vehicle was eventually removed from the property, but debris remained scattered across the yard as investigators assessed the scene.
This incident has left local residents shaken. “It’s scary to think this happened in our neighborhood,” said one resident who asked to remain anonymous.
“We’ve seen speeding in the area, but nothing like this before.” Local officials have previously discussed measures to curb speeding in residential areas, though no new regulations have been implemented at this time.
As Ridgewood police continue their investigation, they have not ruled out additional charges pending a full review of the accident’s causes.
