Tennessee Man Charged After MAN SLEPT WITH MINOR AND RECORDED SEXUAL ACTIVITIES; Then Send Videos Over Internet
NASHVILLE – Daniel Kelly, 32, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, has been charged with federal child exploitation, announced Henry C. Leventis, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.
Kelly was charged by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Tennessee on July 17, 2024, and arrested in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on July 23, 2024. According to publicly available evidence, in the spring of 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) began investigating an adult male who was exchanging messages with a juvenile girl over the social media app Snapchat.
The FBI’s investigation revealed that the Snapchat handle used by the adult was owned and maintained by Kelly. In addition to conversing on Snapchat, Kelly and the minor child exchanged photos, including a copy of the minor child’s middle school calendar.
According to the indictment, Kelly traveled from Jonesboro, Arkansas to the Middle District of Tennessee twice in October 2023, on days that coincided with the young child’s fall break.
During these travels, Kelly engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor child, videotaped at least one encounter on his phone, and then transmitted a copy of the sexually explicit video to the minor child via the internet.
If convicted, Kelly faces a mandatory minimum term of 15 years in federal prison.
The FBI Memphis Field Office, Nashville Resident Agency, and the FBI Little Rock Field Office, Jonesboro Resident Agency, are working together to investigate the case.
Assistant US Attorneys Robert E. McGuire and Monica R. Morrison are prosecuting the case.
An indictment is simply an allegation. The defendant is deemed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
