Terrifying Night: Man with Long Criminal Record Arrested After OU Dorm Break-In!

A man with a long history of criminal charges was arrested this week after allegedly breaking into a home in Norman, Oklahoma, where five female University of Oklahoma students were sleeping.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Raymond Hickman, is facing serious charges after the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to Norman police, Hickman entered the home through a broken window before making his way into a bedroom where one of the women was sleeping.

He then quickly fled the scene after entering the room. Police arrested Hickman a short time later when they found him walking down a nearby street.

The arrest affidavit reveals that Hickman told officers he had broken into the house to ask the women for help, though it was not clear what kind of help he was seeking.

He also allegedly mentioned experiencing hallucinations, saying he thought he was being attacked by dogs while sitting in the police car.

Upon searching Hickman’s backpack, officers discovered a glass pipe that is commonly used to smoke illicit drugs. This, along with his erratic behaviour, led officers to suspect that Hickman may have been under the influence at the time of the break-in.

Hickman has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple arrests and convictions over the years. Court records show that he has been in and out of jail at least 10 times since 2013.

His most recent stint in jail was in October, facing drug charges in Cleveland County, though he was released just two weeks before the alleged break-in at the OU students’ house.

In 2019, Hickman was convicted of armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a gas station clerk at gunpoint and stole a car. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but he was released in February 2024, almost a year before his sentence was complete.

Hickman has also faced serious charges in the past, including kidnapping and robbery, though the charges were dropped due to a witness failing to testify. In 2017, he was charged with first-degree murder after a shooting in Oklahoma City, but a jury found him not guilty.

Since 2013, Hickman has been convicted of at least nine crimes, and four of those convictions resulted in five-year prison sentences.

He served three of those sentences concurrently and was released in 2022 after spending less than two years behind bars. Despite his criminal past, Hickman’s release in recent years has raised concerns, especially given the severity of his actions leading up to his latest arrest.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of repeat offenders and the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing individuals with long criminal histories.

Hickman’s behaviour and prior convictions demonstrate a troubling pattern, leaving many to question how such individuals continue to re-offend despite multiple stints in prison.
