Terrifying: Philadelphia Woman Charged After Shooting Seven-month-old; Footage Captures Horror
The seven-month-old infant sustained a gunshot wound during the traumatic incident that transpired on Thursday along Meridian Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
To identify the suspected shooter, Philadelphia police released surveillance footage that captured the gunfire on Friday.
The woman in the video is depicted as having long dreadlocks and wearing a black sweatshirt while clutching a gun.
The suspect, Dominique Billips, 28, was subsequently identified by the police. He is depicted as approaching the couple and their stroller from behind, discharging a single shot in their direction.
The father appears to flee in the video as the suspect continues to discharge shots at both the mother and father. The mother can be heard screaming “My baby!” moments after the shooting commenced.
The suspect then appears to turn to the mother and say, “F**k your baby, b***h.”
The infant was shot in the leg, but the parents were not struck by the bullets, according to the police.
According to WCAU, a local NBC affiliate, Billips has been apprehended and charged with aggravated assault and numerous other offenses.
CBS News reported that she was apprehended on Friday evening.
According to reports, the infant was transported to a nearby hospital by a compassionate individual who witnessed the entire incident.
The toddler’s condition is currently stable.
The individual, who declined to provide his name, disclosed to WCAU the rationale behind his assistance in obtaining medical treatment for the child.
“When I discovered that the infant was seven months old and both parents mentioned that they had warrants,” he stated.
“They exited the vehicle, and I collected the infant.”
“I simply felt compelled to safeguard this child.” It was quite overwhelming. This was a frightening experience.
He continued, “This individual approached and showed no remorse, firing them and then walking away as if nothing had occurred.”
the child’s parents fled the scene due to outstanding warrants, according to Philadelphia Police Department Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum, who verified the information to the outlet.
Rosenbaum stated that the parents were concerned about being detained.
Police located them approximately one hour following the incident. The lieutenant proceeded, “It appears that the origin of this situation is a $100 narcotics debt.”
“So it is disheartening to observe the video, in which she points the gun at the mother of the baby, who is also a juvenile, and fires,” Rosenbaum stated. “Fortunately, she missed, and that is likely when the infant was struck.”
Billips is anticipated to be arraigned on Monday.
