Texas Most Wanted: Two Dangerous Offenders Finally Captured!
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced the successful arrests of two of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted offenders. On August 17, authorities apprehended Dewarren Donta Knowles, a fugitive on the list, and on August 27, they arrested Antioneo Ryen Sims, a sex offender also featured on the most wanted list.
A Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for Sims’ arrest, highlighting the effectiveness of community tips in assisting law enforcement efforts. Dewarren Donta Knowles, a 36-year-old fugitive, was captured in San Antonio through a coordinated operation involving the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, DPS Special Agents, and San Antonio Police Department officers assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center.
This arrest was made possible thanks to crucial investigative information that guided the authorities to his location. Knowles has a history of criminal behavior, including convictions for assault causing bodily injury to a family member, theft of property, and making terroristic threats.
Since February 2024, he had been on the run after a warrant was issued in Harris County for his arrest on charges of sexual assault of a child.
Knowles is known to have ties with the Tree Top Piru Bloods gang. His capture marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to bring dangerous offenders to justice.
In a separate operation, 43-year-old Antioneo Ryen Sims was taken into custody in Houston following a tip that led DPS Special Agents and Troopers to his whereabouts. Sims has a troubling past, including a 2008 conviction for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, which resulted in a three-year prison sentence.
He also has multiple convictions for failing to register as a sex offender. Sims had been wanted since January 2024 in Harris County for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements, making his arrest another important step in maintaining public safety.
Both of these arrests underscore the critical role that community involvement plays in capturing Texas’ most dangerous criminals.
Funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to individuals who provide information that leads to the arrest of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted fugitives, sex offenders, or criminal illegal immigrants.
So far, in 2024, DPS and other agencies have successfully apprehended 31 offenders from the Texas 10 Most Wanted lists, including 11 sex offenders, ten gang members, and four illegal criminal immigrants.
To be eligible for cash rewards, individuals must submit their tips through one of the following methods:
- Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
- You can submit a web tip via the DPS website by selecting the fugitive about whom you have information and clicking the link under their picture.
- Submit a tip on Facebook by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link located in the “About” section.
All tips remain anonymous, regardless of the submission method. Tipsters are given a tip number instead of using their names, ensuring complete confidentiality.
DPS investigators, working alongside local law enforcement agencies, carefully select the offenders who are placed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants Lists.
These lists, which include photos and information about the offenders, are available to the public on the DPS website. By keeping these lists updated, authorities aim to enlist the public’s help in capturing these dangerous individuals and making Texas communities safer.
