Tragedy Strikes: Speeding Tesla Explodes in Fire, Killing Two in NYC Suburb!
A Tesla car crashed and caught fire, killing two people on Tuesday morning in a posh New York suburb. The accident happened in Pelham Manor, Westchester County, near the Bronx border, around 9:15 a.m., according to officials.
The speeding Tesla drove through an intersection and hit a rock barrier, bursting into flames. Local firefighters rushed to the scene, but the fire consumed the car before the driver and passenger could be saved. Both victims were pronounced dead after the flames were extinguished. Their identities were not released.
The fire took about 20 minutes to control, but firefighters spent hours at the scene. They had to secure the car’s lithium-ion batteries, which were damaged and scattered across the road.
Pelham Manor Fire Chief Michael Greco said the damaged battery contributed to the fire but also made it manageable.
“We heard popping sounds and realized it was a Tesla, so we knew the battery was compromised,” Greco explained.
Security footage from a nearby car service station showed the Tesla speeding through the intersection before crashing into rocks. The car was destroyed, looking like a heap of scrap metal.
Chris Ganpat, the owner of Manor Auto Service Center, shared his shock. “We heard a loud bang and ran out.
The car was on fire against the wall,” he said. “It’s upsetting, especially since it’s Christmas time. My heart goes out to the victims’ families.”
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.
