Tragic Crash on River Road: One Dead After Fiery Collision in Niskayuna!
NISKAYUNA, N.Y. — Police in Niskayuna are looking into a fatal car crash that occurred early Tuesday morning. The accident happened on River Road, close to Whitmyer Drive, and involved a single vehicle.
Officers were alerted to the scene at approximately 7 a.m. after receiving a report about a car that had crashed into a tree.
According to authorities, bystanders at the location acted quickly to pull the driver out of the vehicle, which caught fire after the collision. The flames were extinguished by crews from the Niskayuna Fire District.
The driver, whose identity has not been released yet, was taken to Ellis Hospital by emergency responders. Sadly, they were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Officials confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Niskayuna Police Department, along with the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
