Tragic Glenville Crash: No Charges Filed After Accident That Claimed Four Lives!

No charges have been filed in connection with the tragic Glenville crash that took the lives of four young Schenectady residents.

The Glenville Police Department confirmed on Friday that the investigation into the accident, which occurred in the early hours of September 1, has officially been closed.

The crash happened near Waters Road when a 2022 Honda Civic, traveling eastbound on Route 5, veered off the road and slammed into trees before coming to rest in a ditch. This devastating incident claimed the lives of Elijah Holmes, 24; Nyvon Irizarry, 25; Quiessence Irizarry, 24; and John Kemp, who was just two days shy of his 25th birthday.

All four victims were parents with young children, leaving behind grieving families and a community shaken by the loss.

According to police, the group had been at a party in Amsterdam and was traveling with at least three other cars at the time of the crash. Investigators determined that excessive speed and alcohol impairment were the primary contributing factors to the accident.

The weather conditions were also less than ideal, as the roads were reported to be both wet and foggy that night.

Rumors circulated that the crash was streamed live on Facebook, prompting authorities to urge anyone with information or footage to come forward during the investigation.

Despite the tragic circumstances, the police have decided not to pursue any charges, concluding their inquiry into the matter.

This decision may leave some unanswered questions, but the Glenville Police Department maintains that their investigation was thorough, and they believe that all necessary steps were taken to understand the cause of the accident. While no one will face criminal charges, the families and friends of the victims are left to cope with their unimaginable loss.
