Tragic Rollover Crash in New Baltimore: Driver Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter!

A Hudson man, Evan Kravitz, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following a tragic rollover crash that led to the death of his passenger, Vance Cohen.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning in the Town of New Baltimore, New York, and Kravitz is now in custody without bail.

At around 10:32 a.m., the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one-car accident on County Route 54. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the wrecked vehicle with two occupants inside.

Life-saving measures were initiated immediately, but sadly, they were unable to save the passenger, Vance Cohen, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Kravitz, who was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, lost control of the vehicle while heading southwest on County Route 54.

The Jeep veered off the road and collided with several trees before coming to a stop. Authorities believe that drugs may have impaired Kravitz’s ability to operate the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Kravitz, 43, is now facing serious charges, including one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, a class D felony, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor.

Following his arraignment in the Town of New Baltimore Court, Kravitz was remanded to the Greene County Jail without the option of bail.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the New York State Police, New Baltimore Fire Department, Medway-Grapeville Fire Department, Coxsackie Ambulance, Greene County Paramedics, and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office.
