The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has launched a homicide investigation into the tragic death of a 1-year-old boy in Southeast Washington, D.C. On August 22, shortly before 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call about an unconscious child at a home located in the 1800 block of 18th Street.

When they arrived at the scene, they found 1-year-old Jordan Ballard in critical condition. Medics quickly transported Jordan to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted and received emergency care.

Despite the doctors’ best efforts to save him, Jordan’s condition worsened, and he tragically passed away. The following day, on August 23, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia completed an examination of Jordan’s body.
