Woman attacked sexually in Central Park while tanning; suspect still at large: NYPD

A woman who was sunbathing in Central Park on Monday afternoon was sexually attacked, and police in New York City are looking for her attacker.

Police were called to a Central Park location around 1:30 p.m. in response to a report of a female victim who had been the target of attempted rape.

According to the police, a black man, said to be in his 30s, approached a woman in her 20s who was lounging alone in a quiet area of the park and started to expose himself.

When he tackled her from behind, according to the officials, she got up and attempted to flee.

She was able to put up a battle against him, and he fled, according to the police.

After that, the woman was sent to a nearby hospital for further examination.

The suspect, a black male in his 30s, is wanted by the police. He is described as being around 6’0″ tall, medium built, with curly hair, and wearing shorts and a light-colored shirt.

Authorities added that as they continue to search the perimeter and surveillance footage for the culprit, there will be a significant police presence in the park.

The NYPD is urging anyone with knowledge regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the suspects to get in touch with them.
