27-year-old WOMAN EJECTED FROM CAR AND DIES in Otay Mesa Expressway Ramp Accident

On Wednesday, authorities reported that a single-vehicle accident that occurred on a connector of the Otay Mesa expressway resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman, who was 27 years old at the time, lost control of her Toyota Corolla on the ramp leading from westbound state Route 905 to northbound Interstate 5 at approximately 6:30 in the morning. The reasons behind this loss of control are unknown.

According to Salvador Castro, a public affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle drove to the right, climbed a dirt hill, flipped over, and rolled back into the roadway facing the opposite direction.

The driver was thrown onto the road and then passed away at the scene of the accident. Her name was concealed on the condition that her family was notified.

To facilitate the investigation and cleanup processes, the authorities temporarily disconnected the link.

Castro stated that it was not immediately evident either way whether or not drunkenness played a role in the accident.
