3 Colleges in New York State Rank Among Worst for Return on Investment
As high school seniors begin planning their future, some New York colleges may be worth avoiding due to poor outcomes. A recent report highlights three colleges in New York that offer a low return on investment, raising concerns over high tuition fees and low graduation rates.
Hartwick College
Hartwick College, located in Oneonta, struggles with a graduation rate of 58%. Despite an average starting salary of $48,000, tuition costs strain students’ finances, making it a challenging investment for many.
Skidmore College
Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, while boasting an 89% graduation rate, faces criticism for its steep annual tuition of $50,000. Graduates reportedly earn less than what they paid for their degree, raising concerns over long-term financial viability.
Rensselaer Polytechnic
The worst performer, according to the report, is RPI in Troy. With just 57% of students graduating and complaints of inadequate campus facilities, RPI’s high tuition and low graduation rates place it at the bottom of the list.
While these statistics highlight potential pitfalls, college experiences vary widely. Visiting campuses and researching thoroughly remain critical steps in choosing the right school for your future.
