34-year-old Arrested in Harrisburg After Allegedly Strangling Woman and Shooting Her Dogs

A Harrisburg man is in jail after the Nebraska State Patrol alleges he strangled a lady and shot at her dogs.

On Saturday, troopers detained Andrew Jochem, 34, in Harrisburg. He faces accusations of assault by strangulation, terroristic threats, using a lethal weapon to conduct a felony, possessing a firearm while committing a felony, and third-degree assault.

According to court filings, when police officers arrived at the property, located northeast of Harrisburg, they discovered Jochem and the woman had gotten into an argument during which Jochem shot her pets.

Documents also suggest that a handgun was removed from Jochem’s waistline. A trooper was told that the woman fled the house, but she was later discovered with injuries to her body and throat.

Jochem was arraigned in Banner County Court and is being held on a $75,000 bond. He must pay 10% of the bond to be released.

Law enforcement from the Banner County Sheriff’s Office, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission also helped.
