State Street between Clinton and Broadway will close at 10 a.m. Additional closures will begin later in the day, including side streets around State Street, which will shut down at approximately 3:30 p.m. Starting at 4 p.m., State Street from Gateway Landing Bridge to Veeder/Nott Street, Erie Boulevard heading north, and Erie Boulevard at Union Street will also be closed.

For those travelling on I-890, Exit 4C will close at 3:45 p.m. However, access between the north and south sides of Downtown Schenectady will still be available via Veeder Avenue and Nott Terrace.

The day’s events kick off at 3:30 p.m. with a holiday block party on State Street and Jay Street. Visitors can enjoy face painting, holiday crafts, and various activities for kids at the Jay Street Marketplace.

This year, an additional grandstand will be constructed on Lower State Street near the intersection of State and South Ferry streets, offering more seating options for attendees. NEWS10’s Lydia Kulbida will serve as the emcee for the festivities.

For those looking for a quieter experience, a sensory-friendly viewing space will be set up at Proctors, making the event more inclusive for all attendees. Alongside the block party, the Capital Region Toys for Tots toy drive will begin. Unwrapped toy donations will be collected in a Toys for Tots van stationed near the main stage by Proctors.
