A Man dies at an Ohio amusement park after being hit by a roller coaster

Officials revealed on Monday that a 38-year-old man had passed away a few days after being struck by a roller coaster at an Ohio amusement park.

A Mason Police Department incident report states that Arntanaro Nelson, of Wilmington, Ohio, sustained a “traumatic injury” at the Kings Island theme park on Wednesday night.

A park spokesman said in a statement that Nelson had entered a fenced-in, restricted area near the Banshee roller coaster “and is believed to have been struck by the ride” at approximately 8 p.m.

After being alerted to the situation by park security and first aid personnel, the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

According to Justin Weber, the chief investigator for the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, he passed away on Friday. According to him, the final autopsy results should be available in eight to ten weeks, and the cause of death is still under investigation.

Cincinnati ABC station WCPO reported that a witness stated Nelson informed a park staffer he needed to return to retrieve something he had misplaced on the ride.

According to WCPO, the employee claimed he would be powerless to stop the man until the ride closed. Nevertheless, the man proceeded to meander around the area and eventually went past a locked fence.

The witness said WCPO that because the man was dressed like park employees, some may have assumed he was an employee.

According to a park representative, the Banshee roller coaster was temporarily closed as authorities looked into the incident. Saturday saw the coaster reopen, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.
