Big News: Stewart’s Shops to Open Multiple Stores in The Capital Region!

Stewart’s Shops, a popular convenience store chain, is making a significant move to expand its business by acquiring Jolley Associates, a family-owned convenience store chain.

This acquisition includes 45 store locations across three states and two fuel distribution businesses, which will directly impact the Capital Region.

Jolley Associates, based in Vermont, operates convenience stores and fuel services through its affiliated companies, S.B. Collins and Clarence Brown.

S.B. Collins specializes in gas and diesel distribution, while Clarence Brown handles home heating oil distribution in northwestern Vermont.

The acquisition of these businesses will help Stewart’s Shops strengthen its fuel supply chain while also extending its footprint in new regions.

The financial terms of the deal have not been made public, but the acquisition will require federal regulatory approval.

The approval process is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Once finalized, this move will expand Stewart’s presence in key markets.

According to the Albany Business Review, Stewart’s Shops President Gary Dake expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to acquire a company with such an impressive reputation in a market that we’ve been watching for many years.”

Jolley Associates, which was founded in 1974 by brothers Bruce and Robert Jolley in St. Albans, Vermont, has built a strong presence in the region.

With 38 stores in Vermont and two in New Hampshire, the company has become a recognizable brand. Notably, Stewart’s Shops does not currently have any locations in New Hampshire, making this acquisition an important step in expanding its market reach.

The acquisition also includes five Jolley stores located within the Capital Region. These stores are situated in Queensbury on Aviation Road and Glen Street, in Lake George, and at 2 Clifton Country Road in Clifton Park.

This expansion in the Capital Region will help Stewart’s Shops better serve its customers and bring more convenience options to these areas.

In addition to expanding its convenience store network, Stewart’s Shops will benefit from Jolley Associates’ well-established fuel distribution businesses.

By integrating S.B. Collins and Clarence Brown into its operations, Stewart’s will enhance its fuel distribution capabilities, allowing the company to manage its supply chain more efficiently.

This acquisition is a strategic growth opportunity for Stewart’s Shops as it seeks to expand its footprint and improve its fuel distribution networks.

As the deal moves forward, Stewart’s Shops will continue to strengthen its presence in the Capital Region and beyond while offering its signature blend of convenience, fuel services, and community-based customer service.

The expansion comes as part of Stewart’s ongoing efforts to grow its business and serve more communities across the Northeast.

By acquiring Jolley Associates, Stewart’s Shops is taking a major step toward becoming a more dominant player in the regional convenience store and fuel distribution market.

The impact of this acquisition will be felt not only in Vermont and New Hampshire but also in the Capital Region, where customers can expect to see more Stewart’s locations and improved fuel services.

While the financial transaction details remain under wraps, the acquisition of Jolley Associates positions Stewart’s Shops for long-term growth and success.
