Buffalo Wing Fest Insider: Joey Chestnut’s Top Wing Spot Revealed!

In Western New York, certain weekends are marked on everyone’s calendar: the NFL playoffs, Dyngus Day, and, of course, the National Buffalo Wing Festival. With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, it’s time for the legendary Wing Fest to take center stage.

Buffalo, known as the chicken wing capital of the world, draws thousands of visitors every year for this iconic event. Fans of all ages flock to Buffalo to enjoy the festivities, and one highlight is walking around Highmark Stadium, the home field of the Buffalo Bills.

Among the many visitors each year is Joey Chestnut, a name synonymous with competitive eating. Although Chestnut won’t be participating in this year’s U.S. Chicken Wing Eating Competition—thanks to his recent switch to a vegan diet—he still praises the event for its exceptional atmosphere. Highmark Stadium, where the competition is held, adds to the festive and high-energy vibe that Chestnut appreciates.

Even though Chestnut now follows a vegan diet, his status as one of the world’s top competitive eaters remains unchanged. Despite his impressive track record, his last victory in the Buffalo Wing Eating Contest was back in 2018. Chestnut shared that the fun and vibrant nature of Buffalo makes it tough to focus during the competition.

“Buffalo…I love the city too much,” Chestnut told TMZ. “Anybody who knows Buffalo knows that they have great, great bar food, great bars…”

Chestnut elaborated on why he finds it challenging to stay focused while competing in Buffalo. “People are so nice. It’s hard not to have a good time there,” he said, adding that he needs to manage his enjoyment to stay in competition mode.
